Music opens the doors to the imagination. It’s like what one group said back in the day, “Free your mind and your ass would follow.” Simply put in my own words, “Stop being so close-minded about every doggone thing.” Don’t let your opinion cloud your judgment on everything else. You have to be able to see beyond the simple crap that is in front of you and look at the bigger picture ‘cause if you don’t, you will miss out on a lot of what life has to offer. The sounds of the world are beautiful, and they can be life changing if you let them.

From a determined person who has faced the challenges and ordeals of life with positive attitude comes the product of his inspiration. MY MUSIC is author Larry Barnett, Jr.’s newest masterpiece.

“Who’s to say where the music industry is really headed? I do know this, this country is big. The world is even bigger, so we never know who the next big R & B artist may be or who the next big pop star is. All we know is that there are over a billion different flavors and styles of sounds that have yet to be heard. But believe me though if I’m thinking about it, talking about it, and writing about it. There are some artists—some were already working on it. All we have to do is sit, wait, and listen for it,” Barnett stated and emphasized.

MY MUSIC was written to hopefully give more insights into the world of music—its features, effects and influences, its real essence, and more—to pave the way to further improvement of this art. In this book, Barnett shares of his music-related experiences and of how this art inspires him in so many ways.  It provide readers an understanding of what music is all about, so they can embrace it and experience the difference and wonders it can do to their lives.

“This book is going to celebrate the huge influence that black music has had on the world. And although it may be true that a lot of negative feedback has come from our music, a lot of positive has come from it also,” assured Barnett.
